Lafayette Recreation Department's
We're eager to build a strong and effective team for your child, and we believe that coaches and volunteers play a critical role in achieving that goal. At this time, we may have a coach for your child's team, but we're always on the lookout for more individuals who are passionate about coaching. Therefore, we encourage you to reach out to Katie Raymond ([email protected]) if you're interested in becoming a coach or know someone who might be. We firmly believe that anyone can make a great coach, regardless of prior experience. Furthermore, we're committed to providing all the necessary training and support to help you succeed in this role.

It is highly recommended that all coaches prioritize the philosophy of giving every child an equal opportunity to play. As the saying goes, "I'd rather play and lose than sit on the bench and win." This shows that playing is more valuable to participants than winning. Our aim is to ensure that each child gets a fair chance to participate and grow. According to studies conducted by the National Association for Youth Sports, almost 90% of children prefer to play regularly even if it means being on a losing team, rather than sit on the bench and be on a winning team.
